Question:
What about a mini-bass plastic pontoon boat?
Saw one of these yesterday, and it looked pretty nice. 10' x 4', can
handle a trolling motor and up to a 3hp gas motor. Has two 360 deg.
swivel seats, easy enough for one person to carry and set up. Will run
in only 4" of water.
My other choice is a canoe.
Any thoughts???
Answer:
- Do they come in deep red metal-flake? They're pretty damned small if a cottonmouth climbs aboard. Honestly, the center of gravity seems a bit high
for my comfort; and it'll be even higher when you stand on the seats to get away
from the snakes.
- I have a friend who owns one of those and I've been out on it a few
times. They're great if you like trolling motor fishing. In other words, the
trolling motor is constantly running as you dip in and out of likely
spots. They're pretty stable for lakes and ponds and did not feel tippy or top
heavy at all.I personally prefer a canoe because it is more versatile and can
be used on rivers as well as lakes and I like to row.A friend of mine recently
purchased a coleman "crawdad" which is like a plastic version of a john boat.It
also has two seats,is more stable than a pontoon, roomier and takes a trolling
motor as well. It's a little heavier than the pontoon boats, you need two people
to cartop it,but it's also half the price.I wasout on it yesterday flyrodding
for bass and I had a good time.
