Is there an official definition of a fishing boat in colregs?

Question:
What consitutes "fishing" in regard to collision regulations?

If I sail around with a fishing line off the back, it would be great if everybody had to give way to me - but somehow I suspect that there must be some sort of official definition...

Answer:
Rule 3 General definitions

For the purpose of these Rules, except where the context otherwise requires:

d) The term "vessel engaged in fishing" means any vessel fishing with nets, lines, trawls, or other fishing apparatus which restrict maneuverability, but does not include a vessel fishing with trolling lines or other fishing apparatus which do not restrict manageability.

So as you suspect. your line of the stern doesn't count
